Sunday LOTRA/CSSHA Cow Work Practices
Join us Sunday afternoons for LOTRA/CCSHA Cow Work from 1-4pm
As part of your LOTRA membership, we offer a variety of events you can participate in throughout the year.
LOTRA will hold cow work practices twice a month again this winter on Sunday afternoons at the LOTRA barn. If you are a member of LOTRA, there is no cost. Cowboy State Stock Horse Association (CSSHA) members can attend for $30.
This gives riders who don’t rope a chance to play with LOTRA cattle, try out cutting from a herd, work with one steer at a time tracking, boxing or fence work, getting horses used to being around cattle, and practice stopping and turning using a Cowtrac flag. Join us for this low-pressure learning event where you can improve your skills and have some Sunday fun.
For more info, contact Lee & Nancy Williams (lnwilliams14@yahoo.com / 307-760-5101) or Paula McCormick (paulamccg@gmail.com / 307-851-1126)

An annual tradition for 130 years in Lander, Wyoming
Experience the thrill and heritage of Western culture at the Lander Pioneer Days Rodeo July 3rd & 4th.
The Pioneer Days Rodeo is a unique blend of competitive spirit and community celebration, showcasing exceptional talent in thrilling competitions. Join us to witness the tradition of rodeo come alive, where each event is a history lesson in Lander's ranching heritage.
ABOUT LOTRA
The Lander Old Timer's Rodeo Association (LOTRA) is a cornerstone of Lander, Wyoming, providing a year-round indoor arena for rodeo enthusiasts and riders. Dedicated to preserving the traditions of rodeo and fostering a deep sense of community, LOTRA offers educational programs, competitions, and events that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of rodeo and a love for riding. As a hub for both young and seasoned riders, LOTRA continues to cultivate skills, friendships, and a passion for horseback riding in Lander and the surrounding communities.

LOTRA is a non-profit organization that is run by volunteers and funded by annual membership fees, fundraisers such as the Challenge for Charities run by the Lander Community Foundation, donations, sponsorships, and grants from organizations like the LOR Foundation. Funding allows us to pay for barn maintenance, new equipment, and marketing efforts to expand our reach and impact in the community.
LOTRA MEMBERS
LOTRA members represent a diverse set of equine interests but share a common passion for horses and Western tradition. Founded by ropers, our community has evolved to include a variety of horse enthusiasts, including rodeo riders, performance horse competitors, horse trainers, and recreational riders of all ages. At LOTRA families and friends come to train, compete, learn, and enjoy a community of members who have shared interests and a love of horses.
2024 PIONEER DAYS RODEO RECAP!
Thanks for a Great Rodeo — See You Next Year!
The 2024 Pioneer Days Rodeo was one for the books—what an amazing celebration to commemorate 130 years of Western heritage at the world's first paid rodeo in beautiful Lander, Wyoming. A huge thanks to this year's rodeo spectators, LOTRA volunteers, our community's sponsors who make this event possible, and our rodeo contestants who competed at this year's event. This year's rodeo set records, hosting a crowd of 4000+ on July 3rd and more than 5000 on the 4th.
We handed out $10,000 more in prizes this year to our top performers across fourteen adult and three youth events.
Thank you again to all who contributed and participated in this well-loved Lander tradition. We already can't wait for next year!
